South Africa
Twenty-two young people have died in mysterious circumstances at a nightclub in South Africa. The dead - aged between 13 and 17 - were out celebrating the end of exams, according to local media reports. Bodies were strewn across the floor and on tables, police said, with no visible signs of injury. Post mortems will now be carried out to determine the cause of death. President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his condolences and questioned how teens so young had been allowed to attend a club.

Ecuador
Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso today accused an indigenous leader leading a series of demonstrations of trying to stage a coup. Lasso warned he was willing to use all tools at his disposal to quash the protests, but added he was still open to coming to the negotiation table.
