Rwanda
The last major fugitive wanted in connection with Rwanda’s 1994 genocide has been tracked down to a grave in Zimbabwe. Protais Mpiranya, head of the presidential guard, is accused of ordering the murder of then-Prime Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimana. He had been living in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare under an assumed identity, and investigators discovered that he died in 2006 after evading capture for 12 years. About 800,000 people were killed during the genocide over just 100 days.
