Yemen
The UN Human Rights Council today voted to end an investigation into war crimes allegedly carried out by all sides during the ongoing war in Yemen. A Saudi Arabia-led coalition intervened in the conflict in 2015 to support President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who was toppled by Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The Saudi coalition has since been accused of bombing hospitals and schools and pushing hundreds of thousands of Yemenis to the brink of starvation. Rights groups slammed the vote as an attempt by Saudi and its allies to avoid scrutiny. More than 100,000 people have been killed in the war, aid groups say, and four million forced from their homes.

DR Congo
A sad - but beautiful - story out of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ndakasi, a gorilla who went viral in 2019 when she appeared in a park ranger’s selfie looking strikingly human, has died after an illness at age 14. She died in the arms of Andre Bauma, a ranger who rescued her when she was just two months-old after poachers killed her entire family. "I loved her like a child," Bauma said. "Her cheerful personality brought a smile to my face every time I interacted with her."
