Yemen
A horrifying statistic out of Yemen. The UN today said that more than 10,000 children have been either killed or wounded in the country’s ruinous civil war since a Saudi Arabia-led coalition intervened in the conflict in 2015. Saudi and its allied forces have been accused of bombing hospitals and schools and pushing hundreds of thousands of Yemenis to the brink of starvation. James Elder, a spokesman for the UN children’s agency, told reporters that the true number of children killed or maimed was likely higher because many incidents go unrecorded.

Israel-Palestine
Israeli security forces have carried out raids in occupied East Jerusalem as Palestinians attempted to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. Tensions in the area have been running high in recent months and escalated over the last few days. At least 49 Palestinians were wounded and 10 arrested, according to local media.

Ecuador
Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso has declared a 60-day state of emergency in an attempt to combat a crime wave, as official figures showed the murder rate for the first eight months of the year was double that for the same period last year. Lasso said soldiers would patrol the streets in some of the worst affected areas and that their presence would be felt "with force.” The move comes just weeks after a prison fight between rival drugs gangs killed 119 inmates and captured international attention.
