Protest organizers in Sudan are calling for a “million-strong march” tomorrow as hopes for overturning last month’s military coup fade. Separately, a pro-democracy doctors’ union today reported that a 16-year-old who was shot at a demonstration on Wednesday had died, bringing to 40 the number of people killed while protesting the power grab. There has been widespread international condemnation of the crackdown, including from the UN, the African Union, the Arab League, the EU, and the US but coup leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has dug in and resisted the pressure. Ousted prime minister Abdalla Hamdok remains under house arrest.
