Sudan
Frustrated Sudanese are starting to call it “the forgotten war,” feeling the increasingly brutal conflict in their country has dropped off the international news radar. Today, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group - locked in battle with the government - appears to be pressing home days of territorial gains. They have advanced into the city of Wad Madani, in al Jazira state, forcing about 250,000 people to flee a region once viewed as a safe haven. Multiple ceasefires and attempts at peace talks have failed since the conflict erupted eight months ago. Al Jazeera today ran a piece in which it spoke to the terrified Sudanese civilians caught in the middle.

The Foreign Press Association in Jerusalem represents 370 journalists from around 130 media outlets. Before the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, foreign journalists could enter Gaza with an Israeli-issued press card and a reporting permit from Hamas.
