Myanmar
The UN today said it fears mass atrocities are imminent in Myanmar as thousands of troops are reported to be massing in the north of the country. Peaceful protests erupted after the military toppled a democratic government led by Aung San Suu Kyi in February. But the anti-coup movement morphed into a low-level armed resistance after a brutal military crackdown said to have killed more than 1,100 people. “We should all be prepared, as the people in this part of Myanmar are prepared, for even more mass atrocity crimes. I desperately hope that I am wrong,” UN Special Rapporteur on Myanmar Tom Andrews told the UN General Assembly.

Turkey
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today said he had ordered the foreign minister to make the ambassadors of ten countries "persona non grata.” PNG status ordinarily leads to expulsion. What happens in the immediate term is unclear.
