The death toll from a horror road crash in western Kenya has climbed to 52 with rescuers still combing through wreckage where they believe more victims could be trapped. An out-of-control truck rammed into cars, motorcycles, minibuses, and market traders along the side of the road at a busy junction on Friday evening. Transport Minister Kipchumba Murkomen said at the scene that an investigation had been launched and market traders would now be moved away from highways.

Libya
Drones have attacked an airbase used by Russia’s Wagner Group militia in eastern Libya. Wagner, the group behind last week’s sensational mutiny attempt in Russia, has been fighting in Libya alongside the forces of a rogue general, Khalifa Haftar, who runs one of two competing governments in the country. The other government, recognized by the UN and based in Tripoli, denied it was behind the attack. Libya has been in a state of chaos since longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed in 2011.

Cambodia
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen today kicked off his party’s campaign ahead of a general election later this month. However, not much campaigning will be needed given the 70-year-old, who has ruled the country for four decades, will be running virtually unopposed. The main opposition party was dissolved in 2017 after an alleged coup attempt and scores of its members were imprisoned. Hun Sen’s nearly 40 years in power has been marked by crackdowns on dissent and freedom of expression.
