Iran-Israel
Iran and Israel today traded barbs over an attack on an oil tanker owned by an Israeli billionaire that left two crew members, a Romanian and a Briton, dead. Israeli PM Naftali Bennett said he knows “with certainty” that Iran carried out the attack and that Israel would not hesitate to defend its interests. A spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry said that Israel "must stop such baseless accusations." There have been several similar attacks since 2019 on which the US and Israel has blamed Tehran.

Afghanistan
Yet another flooding story in what is quickly becoming a summer filled with such stories across the world. Afghanistan is the latest nation to suffer with more than 100 people dead and about 170 houses destroyed in severe flooding that has hit the eastern province of Nuristan. Rescue operations are underway, local officials have said.

North Korea
Kim Jong Un’s politically influential sister Kim Yo Jong today said that next month’s annual military drills between South Korea and the US will lead to a further deterioration in relations between the Koreas. Pyongyang has long viewed the drills as an unnecessary provocation and calls them a rehearsal for invasion.
