African countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), could begin administering vaccinations for mpox within days, the continent’s main public health agency said, after the UN’s World Health Organization declared an outbreak of the virus a global health emergency. DRC is one of the worst hit countries on the continent and has been struggling to deal with the outbreak against a backdrop of medicine shortages and a civil conflict. Kenya
A chilling story out of Kenya today. A suspected serial killer, reported to have confessed to killing and dismembering 42 women in the capital Nairobi, has escaped from a police cell alongside 12 others. Collins Jumaisi, 33, was described by police as a “vampire and a psychopath” after ten butchered bodies were found at a dump in Nairobi’s Mukuru area. The police have arrested eight of their own officers, suspecting insider involvement, and launched an urgent manhunt.
