Eighteen people were killed and 32 wounded when at least five rockets landed on a camp for displaced people near the city of Goma in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to the UN. Thousands of people have fled to in and around the city as fighting between a rebel group, the M23, and government forces escalates. With the dead mostly made up of women and children, both sides blamed each other for the attack. DRC says neighbouring Rwanda is supporting and supplying M23. Rwanda denies that.

This morning, Israeli tanks rolled into Rafah as its military took control of the main border crossing between Egypt and southern Gaza, prompting aid agencies to sound the alarm over the closing of what is a vital aid route into the Palestinian enclave. But what exactly had Hamas agreed to and what exactly was rejected by Israel? There have been confusing and contradictory reports on that from various sources. Al Jazeera, though, says it has obtained the full text of the proposal so that you can read it for yourself.
