Afghanistan
A suicide attack, which witnesses say was carried out by three bombers, has killed more than 30 people and wounded scores in a mosque in Afghanistan. It is the second such attack to hit the country this month, underlining the scale of the task the now ruling Taliban has containing groups who oppose it. The Islamic State Khorasan Province group, the ISIS affiliate in Afghanistan, is expected to claim responsibility.

Lebanon
Funerals have been held in Lebanon today after street battles between militias in the capital Beirut killed seven and wounded dozens yesterday. The Hezbollah and Amal movements had been holding a demonstration calling for the lead judge in the official investigation into last year’s huge port explosion to be sacked. Hezbollah says the judge is biased, though most of the victims’ families support him.

Central African Republic
The president of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Archange Touadera, has declared a unilateral ceasefire in the government’s battle against various armed groups. CAR has been beset by widespread conflict for almost a decade.
